Getting Here
From Christchurch Airport
The fastest route, in peak traffic, is to head left from the airport towards the West Coast Road (SH 73), and then take the turn-off to the Old West Coast Road, shortly after Yaldhurst. Follow the road continuing straight past the turnoff to Kirwee. A few kilometres after the signpost to Darfield on your left, you will see a signpost to Oxford on your right. Turn right and then turn right again at the T-junction and drive across the single-lane bridge over the Waimakariri River. Follow the road for about 10lm and after crossing another single-lane bridge you will enter Oxford. Drive straight past the shopping precinct and the Oxford Queenette Backpackers will be on your right, just before the Town Hall on your left (67km).
The shortest route is to head towards Belfast and SH1 towards Picton. Shortly after crossing the Waimakariri River, take the Tram Road turnoff to Oxford. At the end of the flyoff, turn left and follow Tram Road, reputedly one of the longest straight roads in New Zealand. Shortly after a right bend you will reach a T-junction with Oxford Road. Turn left and follow the road to Oxford (right will take you via Cust to Rangiora). The Oxford Queenette Backpackers will be on your left as you enter the town, shortly after the police station (54km).
From Rangiora
Head inland from Rangiora on Fernside Road on the scenic SH 72. Follow the road which passes through Cust and brings you to Oxford. The Oxford Queenette Backpackers will be on your left as you enter the town, shortly after the police station.
